Chapter 1 · Half an hour to one openable HTML chart

Plain talk: a default spreadsheet chart looks like a corner-shop receipt—numbers exist, polish doesn’t. Lieflat Charts aims at print-shop flyer quality: title, notes, whitespace, and a double-clickable HTML file.

This chapter: install → copy-paste prompt → one HTML chart.

Package free. Later chapters unpack selection and reports. Keep LICENSE / NOTICE. Upstream is noncommercial—get a commercial grant yourself for company use.

Where people get stuck

  1. Wrong skills folder;
  2. Asking for a “full report” when one chart would do;
  3. The assistant invents a fake template instead of using the catalog.

1. Install (about 5 minutes)

  1. SkillBazaar → free Skill “Lieflat Charts” → download zip.
  2. Unzip to e.g. ~/.cursor/skills/lieflat-charts — you should see SKILL.md, catalog.md, templates/.
  3. New chat. @lieflat-charts or “Please read the lieflat-charts Skill.”

Check: ask what families live in catalog.md. Hearing Lupi / Basics / Glance is enough.

2. Copy-paste prompt

Attach a small real table or a few conclusions, then:

Use lieflat-charts: turn the data below into one Chinese HTML chart for a long-form article.
Prefer Lupi Editorial and Lupi Basics first; only then Glance.
Single double-clickable HTML; keep real units; clear title/source. No full-page report.

If it misbehaves

  • Spits a report → “Chart mode only; no R01–R12.”
  • Invented chart type → “Must use real template cards from catalog.md / templates/.”
  • Mixed loud colors → “One color system per delivery; default Mono if unsure.”

3. Checklist

  • lieflat-charts/SKILL.md + catalog.md on disk
  • Browser opens the HTML
  • Real units / editorial notes visible—not a stock library skin
  • Next prompt will change at least data / occasion / chart vs report
