Chapter 1 · Install first, stop at the strategy gate

Hard rule: this tutorial is not the Skill package. Buy and download “SRT whiteboard animation,” unzip into skills (SKILL.md + scripts/). Without the package, chapter commands won’t run.

Half the Skill is scripts; half is gates—like a cafeteria line: call the dish, look at the plate, nod, then continue. Don’t silently serve the whole table.

Goal: env ready → short SRT → assistant outputs strategy only and stops.

Where people get stuck

  1. Bought the tutorial but not the package;
  2. Assistant jumps to line art / video;
  3. Silence treated as consent.

1. Package present

  • srt-whiteboard-animation/SKILL.md
  • scripts/prepare_env.py, parse_srt.py

2. Env

python scripts/prepare_env.py

(Use your installed skill path.)

3. Minimal SRT + strategy gate

Prepare ≤2 scenes, ~25–35s narrative each. Tell the assistant:

Load srt-whiteboard-animation. Parse my SRT with parse_srt.py. Propose storyboard/illustration strategy per 25–35s scene (ids, core message, subject, subtitle span, sceneDurationMs). Stop after strategy and wait for my explicit confirm. No images, annotations, or video.

4. Checklist

  • Package purchased & installed
  • Strategy table received; assistant stopped at the gate
  • One core idea per scene
  • Silence ≠ confirm
